Geological Heritage
Geological Heritage comprises all the elements that constitute geodiversity. These ramifications are rocks, fossils, minerals, geological structures and even landscapes which show a didactic, scientific, cultural or tourist meaning also known as geosites.
Geological Heritage is comprised by geosites and it is a natural resource which is constantly in process of transformation by the geological process and it must be preserved.
Part of the geological history is registered in these geological sites which bring up positive effects to the education, culture and even to people’s relationship with the environment.
Like every natural heritage, geological heritage demands special care regarding conservation, to a more or less extent depending on its characteristics. Some ramifications can be as fragile as a biotic habitat.
